Is IV sedation safe?
IV sedation performed by a certified sedation dentist such as Dr. Dowd is absolutely safe. The procedure involves a sedative delivered straight to the bloodstream. Dr. Dowd will closely monitor your comfort level and vital signs, and a medical history report before the procedure will ensure sedation dentistry is safe for you.
Do you see families?
Yes! Our general, cosmetic, and restorative dental treatments are suitable for patients of all ages. Dr. Dowd enjoys helping children (eight years and older) prevent cavities, and our cosmetic options are often great for teens and adults. Grandparents and medically compromised patients love our soothing sedation and custom tooth-replacement options.
Can Dr. Dowd help with snoring? Headaches?
As a general dentist, Dr. Dowd regularly takes post-graduate courses that allow him to treat a variety of dental-related issues. Snoring and sleep apnea can often be remedied with a custom oral appliance. For headaches and migraines, which are often related to teeth grinding, we recommend the NTI appliance.
What are same-day crowns?
Using CEREC technology, Dr. Dowd can create all-ceramic crowns, inlays, and onlays in just one visit. CEREC eliminates the need for impressions, lab work, and second appointments. Dr. Dowd doesn’t recommend CEREC for all restorations, though. He’ll discuss your options with you and always suggest the best possible option for your unique needs.
Does your office use mercury or metal?
Mercury fillings used to be the standard for dental care, but times have changed. We now use tooth-colored, composite fillings, which contain no mercury or metal. In most cases, we can also create metal-free crowns and bridges for a naturally beautiful smile.
