Meet the Dentist
Dr. Loyd D. Dowd
Dr. Loyd Dowd carries with him a clear vision –to help fearful and anxious patients receive the dental care they need essential to quality of life and overall well being. Through extensive education and training, Dr. Dowd has established his niche in the field of dentistry. Meeting rigorous requirements, Dr. Dowd received a Mastership from the College of Sedation in Dentistry and is uniquely qualified to provide comfortable, soothing IV sedation to East Texas patients.
Education
A lifelong learner, Dr. Dowd holds several degrees including:
- BSC Biology, University of Texas at Arlington
- Pharmacology Fellowship, University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, M.D. Anderson Hospital for Cancer Research
- DDS, University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston

Dr. Dowd’s pursuit of higher learning includes over 1500 hours of continuing education. He continues to research and incorporate new advancements into his practice and remains at the forefront of dentistry through professional memberships in the following organizations:

When he’s not caring for patients, you’ll find Dr. Dowd playing lead guitar (and several other instruments) for The Vikings. He loves playing guitar in his church orchestra, photography, riding his Harley Davidson Road King with his wife, and spending time with their two Yorkshire Terriers.
